Conservation accreditation has developed over the last 20 or so years and benefits both clients and professionals, establishing a formed set of industry standards that professionals need to work within. A number of different Organisations offer Accreditations and Memberships all aimed at slightly differing professions within the Heritage Sector. Spencer Hall ACR IHBC MCIOB holds a number of these accreditations and maintains membership with other organisations, these are;
ICON PACR - Institute of Conservation; Professionally Accredited Conservator/Restorer
Becoming an Accredited Conservator-Restorer (ACR) demonstrates to clients, employers and peers that an individual has an in-depth knowledge of conservation, a high degree of competence, sound judgement and a deep understanding of the principles which underpin their practice, by showing that they are proficient across Icon’s professional standards in conservation.
IHBC - Institute of Building Conservation; Full Membership
A Full Member is the IHBC’s fully accredited category of professional membership. It is the only category where holders are entitled to put the letters ‘IHBC’ directly after their name. Full Members have demonstrated their skills, knowledge and experience in built and historic environment conservation as a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary practice, in line with the institutes membership standards and criteria and the international models on which they are based.
MCIOB - Member of The Chartered Institute Of Building
The CIOB is a worldwide professional body that represents construction and property professionals who work within the built environment. Chartered members may use the designation MCIOB . This means they have demonstrated their professional competence in the field of Construction Management and that they have been assessed by an independent panel of experts. When employing a Chartered Construction Manager, you can be sure they have the skills, training, and experience to operate construction projects professionally.
